PTA Committee Chair

Are you interested in chairing a PTA committee? There is currently an open position on the PTA board for PDAC Liaison. This committee chair helps the Parents Diversity Advisory Council advocate for educational equity in all District 204 schools. Time commitment is low and includes attending one evening event per month. Please email Kathy Dunn (springbrookpresidentpta@gmail.com) for more information if interested.

CALLING ALL ART AWARENESS VOLUNTEERS!

Do you love art or love to help out in your child's classroom? Art connects our students with the world. The PTA is in need of parents to volunteer to teach Art Awareness lessons to your child's class. We provide everything you need to do the lesson, no experience necessary!

On a quarterly basis, volunteers pair up and teach the students about well-known artists and their works and then facilitate an art project using the style just taught. ALL teaching materials, training, and activities are provided for volunteers. The students always enjoy the lessons and will amaze you with their interpretation of the art presented.

You will self-schedule the lesson with your teacher during the quarter at your own convenience and is a great way to be a part of your child's education and keep art flowing through our school!

Any questions, please email co-chairs: Sina Fong (sinafong@yahoo.com) or Christine Estacio (kwannon@gmail.com)

Charleston Wrap Fundraiser

The PTA Fall Fundraiser is under way! This fundraiser is a catalog fundraiser through the company Charleston Wrap, and offers very unique & fun wrapping paper, kitchen items and other products for the home. Last year the Charleston Wrap fundraiser raised almost $5,000 for the Spring Brook PTA, which helps pay for things like field trips, Ice Cream Social, teacher requested supplies and Art Awareness. We hope to exceed last year's sales this year, so that we can do even more for Spring Brook!

Today, each student should receive a Charleston Wrap fundraising packet. Additional order forms and packets are available in the front office.

What you can do to participate

- First, read the welcome letter included in the Charleston Wrap packet your student brought home

- Register your student online at http://www.charlestonwrapstore.com using our School ID provided on the form

- Obtain your student's Charleston Wrap student ID upon registration

- Share the Charleston Wrap link with others via the Charleston Wrap site

- Share the Charleston Wrap link along with your student ID on Facebook

- Submit orders on 9/24 or sooner, products will be delivered to the school around November 7th— online orders delivered sooner

- Make all checks payable to: Spring Brook PTA

Online ordering is available and will help insure orders are processed as quickly as possible. It is also a great way to get distant relatives and friends involved in helping your child's school! Please note that when you or your family and friends order online you can either choose to have their products shipped to their house (free shipping on orders over $85) or they can have their products delivered to the school for $4.50. There is no shipping charge for catalog orders, as these will be automatically delivered and picked up at the school.

This year, we have some great incentives for the students to get excited about and earn during the fundraiser, rather than just at the end. Students can earn prizes by sending emails to family and friends through the Charleston Wrap website, and can earn a lanyard with zoo animals by turning in "items sold" coupons included in their packet. These will be distributed in classrooms twice a week.

Please read the welcome letter sent home today closely. If you have any questions after reading the letter, please email Tiffany Malik (tiffany.malik@gmail.com) or Laura Schutte (laura.schutte1@gmail.com).
