Our PTA Needs Help. Volunteer for 2019-20!
The PTA needs your help for the 2019-20 school year! To continue providing fun and educational opportunities for our school community, we must have parent volunteers willing to chair each of our program committees. There are several open committee chair positions for next year listed below. Please email Kathy Dunn at email@example.com to learn more about these roles or to sign on for one of them. Open committee chair positions for the 2019-20 school year:
--Ice Cream Social – 1 or 2 co-chairs urgently needed -- Coordinate annual ice cream social event at the start of the school yearâ€” work with vendors, organize set-up and volunteers for the event over the summer with help from the executive board. Next year’s Ice Cream Social will be after teacher meet & greet on August 14th, 2019.
--Adult Social – 2 co-chairs urgently needed, but more are welcome -- Plan, organize and execute the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year (~$10,000) in late January. Planning begins in early fall. Ideas for updating this event are encouraged! Chairs work with vendors and coordinate a committee of volunteers that help with event planning, donation solicitation, and day-of details. It’s very important that we will fill these roles – thank you for considering them!
--Bingo For Books – 1 or 2 co-chairs needed – Coordinate family bingo night event in Januaryâ€” collect books and raffle prizes, organize set-up and volunteers for the event with help from the executive board.
--Kindergarten Picnic and Lunch – 1 chair needed. Plan a few outdoor games/activities for Kindergarten Picnic (August 8th, 2019) and coordinate volunteer lunch helpers for the first two weeks of school. Low time commitment in late summer/August only.
--Reflections – 1 chair needed. Reflections is a national arts education program sponsored by National PTA and coordinated in D204 by IPPC. Students create works of art based on a theme and are recognized at both the school and district level. The Reflections chair promotes the program, collects student entries, works with IPPC to submit entries and ensures our students’ works are displayed and recognized at Spring Brook. Moderate time commitment from August-early spring.
--Apparel / Spirit Wear – 1 chair needed. Promote spirit wear sales throughout the year, work with vendor as needed to ensure ordering process runs smoothly. Low time commitment, some over the summer to prepare for the start of school.
--IPPC Representative – seeking 2 co-chairs to split the workload year-round (Indian Prairie Parents Council - council of PTA reps from all D204 school that provides services and resources throughout the district). Reps must cover one monthly (weekday) meeting and report back to Spring Brook, and participate in a committee project. Great opportunity for anyone interested in being involved with other schools at the district level!
--PDAC Representative – 1 chair needed (Parents Diversity Advisory Council – promotes equity and educational excellence in D204). Attend 2-3 (evening) liaison meetings per year and participate in council activities on behalf of our PTA. Great opportunity for anyone interested in being involved at the district level.
--IPEF Representative – 1 chair needed (Indian Prairie Educational Foundation – supports educational enrichment of D204 students). Keep Spring Brook PTA up to date on IPEF news/opportunitiesâ€” coordinate spirit squad for Kids’ Marathon in October.
* In accordance with our bylaws, you must become a PTA member for the 2019-20 school year in order to chair a committee.
There are many ways to get involved with Spring Brook PTA, and volunteers are always needed throughout the year. Separate emails will go out closer to each event asking for additional volunteers. Thank you for your generosity!
