Hello Spring Brook Parents –

Field Day Lunch

On Wednesday, June 5th our students will be participating in Field Day. Please send a disposable sack lunch for your child to enjoy on this day. You can provide your own drink or milk will be available for purchase. To accommodate our Field Day activities the lunch schedules will be adjusted slightly, but all students will receive the regular amount of time for lunch and recess. Lost and Found

If your favorite sweatshirt, jacket, umbrella, hat, winter boots or banana case have gone missing, chances are good it's sitting on Spring Brook's Lost and Found table. Lost and Found will be available in our front hallway until 6/5. Any items left after that date will be donated. Come on in and take a look

LMC Volunteers Need for the 2019-2020 School Year

My name is Luciana Rodriguez and I'm Spring Brook's Library Media Center (LMC) Volunteer Coordinator. We're looking for LMC volunteers for the 2019-2020 school year.

The volunteer schedule has three time slots per day: 9:00-11:00 a.m., 11:00-1:00 p.m., and 1:00-3:30 p.m. Volunteers have an assigned day and time slot every week or every other week, with two volunteers per shift for the school year. During shifts, volunteers check-in books, interact with students that visit the LMC (assist kids with choosing books), help check-out materials, shelve books, and help with special projects. It's a fun way to become involved at Spring Brook and meet teachers, students, and Spring Brook families!

PTA Needs Your Help!

The PTA needs your help for the 2019-2020 school year! To continue providing fun and educational opportunities for our school community, we must have parent volunteers willing to lead each of our program committees. There are several open positions for next year listed below. Please email Kathy Dunn at to learn more about these roles or to sign on for one of them. Would you like to help but aren’t sure where to begin? Please contact me and we will match you with an opportunity that’s a good fit for you!

Open committee chair positions for the 2019-2020 school year:

--Adult Social – * only 1 more co-chair needed *, but more are welcome -- Plan, organize and execute the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year (~$10,000) in late January. Planning begins in early fall. Ideas for updating this event are encouraged! Chairs work with vendors and coordinate a committee of volunteers that help with event planning, donation solicitation, and day-of details. It’s very important that we fill this role – thank you for considering it!

--Bingo For Books – 1 or 2 co-chairs needed – Coordinate family bingo night event on November 14th, 2019— collect books and raffle prizes, organize set-up and volunteers for the event with help from the executive board. Moderate time commitment August through November only.

--Kindergarten Picnic and Lunch – 1 chair needed. Plan a few outdoor games/activities for Kindergarten Picnic (August 8th, 2019) and coordinate volunteer lunch helpers for the first two weeks of school. Low time commitment in late summer/August only.

--Reflections – 1 chair needed. Reflections is a national arts education program sponsored by National PTA and coordinated in D204 by IPPC. Students create works of art based on a theme and are recognized at both the school and district level. The Reflections chair promotes the program, collects student entries, works with IPPC to submit entries and ensures our students’ works are displayed and recognized at Spring Brook. Moderate time commitment from August-early spring.

--Apparel / Spirit Wear – 1 chair needed. Promote spirit wear sales throughout the year, work with vendor as needed to design spirit wear line and ensure ordering process runs smoothly. Low time commitment, some over the summer to prepare for the start of school.

--Membership – 1 co-chair needed. Assist with annual PTA membership drive, which will run primarily online next year. Distribute membership packets to classrooms, help sign up members online, track membership forms and data as needed. Monderate time commitment August-mid-October.

* In accordance with our bylaws, you must become a PTA member for the 2019-2020 school year in order to chair a committee. *

There are many ways to get involved with Spring Brook PTA, and volunteers are always needed throughout the year. Separate emails will go out closer to each event asking for additional volunteers. Thank you for your generosity!
