Hello Spring Brook Parents –



Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week starts Monday, October 21st. This is a national campaign to raise awareness of the danger of drugs. This year’s slogan is “Send a Message. Stay Drug Free.” Students can participate by signing the Drug Free Pledge that will be given during the week along with dressing up daily to promote the themes below:



10/21 Monday- Our futures are BRIGHT! We won't do drugs. - Neon Day

10/22 Tuesday- Give drugs the BOOT! - Western Day

10/23 Wednesday- Lei off drugs. - Hawaiian Day

10/24 Thursday-Team up AGAINST drugs. - Jersey Day

10/25 Friday- Huskies are drug free! - Spirit Wear Day



Halloween Parade

We will have our Halloween parade on Thursday, October 31 at 2:45 PM. Students will exit door 12, walk around the school and re-enter door 12. Students will be dismissed at the normal dismissal time. A few reminders: Students need to bring their costumes to school. They will be given sufficient time to change into their costumes. Students will not be allowed to wear their masks or have costumes that include: fake weapons, blood, gore or any obscenities. If there is inclement weather on Wednesday, the Halloween parade will be held inside for staff and students only. Let's hope for good weather!



Veteran’s Day

As Veteran’s Day approaches on November 11th, we would like to honor all the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to ensure the safety and security for all Americans.



From 8:30-9:30 AM on November 11th, we will be hosting a continental breakfast for all these special veterans and their families. Please RSVP and include the number of people that will attend the breakfast through the following link, by Friday, November 1st.

After breakfast, all veterans are invited to stay for a flag-raising ceremony, the Pledge of Allegiance and a presentation in our main gym. All activities should conclude by approximately 10:45.



All Veterans are invited to participate in the following activities:

*8:30-9:30 –Breakfast for Veterans in the Multi-Purpose room

*9:30 – Flag-raising and Pledge of Allegiance outside

*9:50 – Veterans’ Day Assembly in the Main Gym. Veterans will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves by sharing his/her name, branch of service and years of service.



PTA Meeting

Our next PTA meeting will be on Thursday, October 24 at 9:30 AM in the lunch room.

Kindergarten-Second Grade Family Reading

Come join us for our Kindergarten-Second Grade Family Reading Night where Stories Come Alive!



Where: Spring Brook Elementary School

When: Wednesday, October 23rd

Time: 6:20-7:30 PM



Thanks to the generosity of Spring Brook's PTA this event with feature Storyteller Donna Washington. Spring Brook staff will share grade level literacy activities that the whole family can participate in.

Teaching Assistant Recruitment

Do you have a Bachelor's Degree? Or an Associate's Degree? Or 60 semester hours of college coursework? You could be a Teaching Assistant with District 204.
