Weekly Message - February 15, 2021

Reported by on 2/15/21

Hello Spring Brook Parents –

Spring Conferences

Spring conferences will be held on February 25th from 1:00-8:00 PM via Zoom. Spring conferences are scheduled on an as needed basis. Unlike the Fall, there is only one day (Feb. 25) dedicated to spring conferences, so appointments are limited. On Friday, February 12th, teachers reached out to families they would like to conference with due to concerns and/or necessary check-ins, or if they are not requesting a conference.

If your child’s teacher does not feel a conference is necessary at this time, but you have a concern, please reach out to your child's teacher to let them know and they will reserve a remaining conference time for you. Remember our staff is always available via email or phone anytime you have questions or concerns.

5Essentials Survey - We Need Your Feedback!
Parents, students and teachers across Illinois will once again have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school as it relates to the important elements of school effectiveness.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by the University of Chicago. All survey responses will be kept confidential. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. Currently, 9% of parents have completed the survey. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school.

To take this short survey:
1. Visit

2. Type and select “Dupage” as "County." (The county is the location of the school district's main office.)

3. Type your school's name into the "School" field and select your school.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that can lead to important student outcomes, including test score gains. Research has shown that schools strong on these indicators are ten times more likely to improve student learning. The five indicators that effect school success are effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction

PTA Meeting

The next PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, February 18, at 7:00pm. Mr. Worst will be joining to answer any questions you may have.

All members will receive a Zoom link via email.

We hope you can join us!

Aimsweb Testing

This week is our last week of our Aimsweb Plus benchmark assessments for students in grades 2-5. A special message for our remote learner families. Please support your child in working on their own to ensure we collect accurate data, and that students work the entire testing period with their headphones on, microphone unmuted and video on. We look forward to collecting this accurate data so our staff can ensure students are making expected progress. Thank you for your support!

Material Distribution - Today

Today, we want to provide you an opportunity to pick up instructional materials that your child will need for the rest of February and March. This is only for students who are learning remotely. Our in-person students will receive their materials at school.

If your child is in Kindergarten, First and/or Second Grade, you will just need to have the grade level displayed on your car window.

If your child is in Third, Fourth and/or Fifth Grade, you will need to have the grade level and math class displayed. If they are in accelerated math, please display AC for accelerated math.

The time to pick up materials on February 15th is from 2:00-2:30. Since this is only for remote learners, you can come at any time between 2:00-2:30.
