Bus Action Plan
Reported by david_worst@ipsd.org on 10/23/09
Spring Brook Families,
By the time you receive this e-mail, you would have received an e-mail and voice message from our superintendent regarding the potential for a bus driver strike. As a result, the Spring Brook team has created a plan of action.
First, please know that if we are notified of a strike, the District will immediately notify you through an automated phone call and will provide ongoing updates through the automated system, list-serve, and district website.
In the event of a bus driver strike, the following plan of action will occur:
Arrival
1. The schools will remain open. If your child rides a bus, please begin discussing plans for alternate transportation. Consider carpooling.
2. Students who ride busses will be allowed to arrive to school as early as 8:15 AM if needed. Please help us by delaying your arrival as closely to 8:50 AM as possible.
3. We will continue to use the circle drive for our normal arrival procedure.
4. Arrival time is still 8:50 for our walkers.
Departure
1. Students who are usually walkers or car riders will be dismissed at 3:35 and will follow the normal departure procedures. The walkers and car riders should be off school property by 3:45.
2. Students who usually ride a school bus will be dismissed at 3:45. In order to be safe and avoid traffice jams, cars should not arrive prior to 3:45 to pick up bus students. At 3:45, cars may enter the circle drive and should line up in a single file line.
3. As you enter the circle drive, staff will greet you and ask you who you will be picking up. Please indicate clearly the students' names and the bus number they ride. This information will be conveyed by radio to the school. Your students will be dismissed out of Door 2. Please exit as soon as possible.
4. The District is asking that all students be picked up by 4:20 PM.
An arrival and departure sheet will be sent home with bus students today. Please complete this sheet and return it to school by Monday. If you need to make changes once the sheet has been returned, you must notify the classroom teacher in written form. I have attached a copy of the arrival and departure sheet in case you do not receive one this evening.
Let's hope for the best! If the worst case scenario occurs, we have a plan. It will require patience.
Have a great day! - Dave
