Teacher Appreciation Week
Calling all Husky HEROS! Teacher Appreciation week is May 7-11. We have these SUPER days planned for our Super Hero Teachers!
Monday, May 7--Wear your teacher's favorite color
Tuesday, May 8--Write your superhero teacher a letter/card to thank them for all they do!
Wednesday, May 9--Wear your Husky HERO shirts
Thursday, May 10--Power your teacher with something from the garden (flower, fruit, vegetable)
Friday, May 11--Every superhero needs vital tools, bring in school supplies for your teacher
***Let's not forget to thank our super specials teachers too!!
See The Able Not The Label!
To bring awareness and acceptance to autism and other disabilities, as a school we would like to celebrate our differences for the months of April and May.
What is See The Able Not The Label?
This campaign is about promoting inclusion and acceptance in the classroom and throughout the community. Acceptance is to challenge ignorance and fear about disabilities. It is to spread the word and knowledge about disabilities. We are lucky at Spring Brook to include students with a variety of needs in our classrooms.
Make a pledge!
We would like to give everyone in our school the opportunity to make a ‘pledge’ towards See The Able Not The Label. If you would like to make the pledge, cut out, decorate and write your name on the ribbon that the students received at school and donate $1. The ribbons will be posted on our lunchroom wall and all donations will be divided evenly to Easter Seals, Western Dupage Special Recreation Association and Gigi’s Playhouse.
Lunch is on us! The PTA board would like to invite any parent who has volunteered in any way this year to a luncheon to show our appreciation.
It will be Tuesday, May 15th at Traverso's from 12-2pm. RSVP by no later than Monday, May 7th to be included on the guest list.
Due to space constraints, adults only please.
We hope you can come join us and have a fun afternoon to relax and talk with other Spring Brook parents!

School Supply Kits
The Spring Brook PTA is pleased to offer school supply kits for the 2018-2019 school year. From the comfort of your home, you can purchase the required supplies with a click of a button. The kits will be delivered to your child's classroom before the first day of school. The benefits of ordering through the PTA include:

Please continue to send your collected box tops to school with your student. We will collect through most of May with the final prize drawing happening the week of May 21st. This is an easy way to bring funds to Spring Brook, and we thank you for your support!
Save the Date Spring Brook Families! Aurelio's (SE corner of Rt. 59 & 83rd street) is hosting our last Dough Raising of the school year on Wednesday, May 23rd! Dine in, carryout or delivery orders count towards the fundraiser. Hope to see you there!
Recap last PDAC meeting
On April 17th, PDAC hosted a meeting on Understanding and Addressing Income Advantages. We discussed the important implications of Title I funds and learned from SPARK, a community partnership, on how early childhood needs are addressed. The slides from the meeting are now available and can be accessed HERE.
Last PDAC meeting of the school year
The last PDAC meeting of the school year is on Thursday, May 10th, 7-9:00 pm, at CEC. Join us to celebrate and reflect on this year’s work!
NOMINATION CALL: Equity Champion
We need your help nominating Equity Champions. Every year, PDAC acknowledges equity champions that have gone “beyond the call of duty to ensure that all students have equal access to success” ~PDAC nomination form. You may nominate any staff member, administrator, parent and/or community member that you believe has exemplified championing for equity. The nomination forms are open to all. Nominations are due June 30, 2018. The electronic nomination form can be found on the PDAC subpage (scroll to the bottom) or HERE. The selected champion will be recognized at the annual World Café slated for late September/early October 2018. Please do not nominate any member of the current PDAC District Leadership team as ineligible to receive this award.
