Mr. Alessia's Bio
I grew up in Calumet City and Lansing, IL. I attended St. Victor Elementary School and Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing. Following high school, I studied elementary education at the University of Illinois @ Urbana/Champaign. In the fall of 2007, I completed my post graduate degree through Concordia University Chicago in Educational Leadership and Administration.
I began my teaching career in 2001 at Jane Addams Elementary School in Palatine, IL, teaching sixth grade. In the fall of 2002, I became a long-term sub for the Enrichment/Project Arrow Program for grades K-3 at Spring Brook. The next year, I moved up to fourth grade where I have happily been ever since!
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my five nephews. I also enjoy trying to golf, attending White Sox and Illinois football/basketball games, reading and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Mrs. Pope's Bio
My name is Dawn Pope, 4th Grade Teacher at Spring Brook Elementary. I began my teaching career in 1997 at Spring Brook and have enjoyed being there ever since. I have taught both 3rd and 4th grade. I have a Masters Degree in Reading from Lewis University. Also, I am a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Having my past students come back and visit after years of being gone is the highest compliment I can ask for. When I am not teaching I love spending time with my family especially with my son Logan. I love gardening and working on my flower beds outside. Inside I love to decorate and organize.
Mrs. Sommers' Bio
Mrs. Sommers has been in education for 20 years and has taught kindergarten through fourth grade both in Arizona and Illinois. Mrs. Sommers has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and a Master’s of Arts in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. Her favorite part of teaching is sharing in the excitement of wonder and learning with all of her students. In her free time, Mrs. Sommers enjoys spending time with her immediate and extended family traveling and attending outdoor events. She also enjoys reading and gardening.
Ms. Wagner Bio
I grew up in Lombard, IL and attended Glenbard East High School. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois @ Urbana/Champaign. Since then I have also earned my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and completed all classes toward my administrative degree from North Central College in Naperville. I began teaching at Spring Brook in 1997 and have taught 3rd grade, 4th grade and have been the interventionist. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my 2 cavalier king Charles spaniels. I also enjoy running, biking, playing tennis, reading and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
