PTA Committee Chairs Needed

Hello Spring Brook Families -

The PTA needs YOUR help for the 2021-2022 school year! To continue providing fun and educational opportunities for our school community, we must have parent volunteers willing to chair each of our program committees. There are several open committee chair positions for next year listed below. Please email springbrookpresidentpta@gmail.com to learn more about these roles or to sign on for one of them. Would you like to help but aren’t sure where to begin? Please contact us and we will match you with an opportunity that’s a good fit for you!

Events will be subject to change depending on the status of COVID-19 policies.



--Ice Cream Social – 1 or 2 co-chairs needed

Coordinate annual ice cream social event at the start of the school year— work with vendors, organize set-up and volunteers for the event over the summer with help from the executive committee. Moderate time commitment July through mid-August.





--Kids Heart Challenge-- 1 co chair needed

Assist Mrs. DiNello with the event in February. You will work with another chair to distribute prizes, make a bulletin board, etc. Moderate time commitment in January and February.





--Sunshine Committee- 1 chair needed

Chairperson will sign cards on behalf of the PTA and deliver them to the school. Examples of events to recognize are birthday, baby , wedding, retirement, and loss of family member. Low time commitment the whole year.





--Box Tops- 1 chair needed

This chair will distribute any flyers from the Box Tops company to parents, and remind parents how to upload the receipts to receive boxtops credit. Box tops are no longer clipped and sent to the company. Low time commitment






--STEM Night/Science Fair- 1 or 2 co chairs needed

Organize a science fair night with students and parents. Science fair will take place in October. Work with students that signed up and provide information on what a science fair project looks like. Work with volunteers to oversee the event. Moderate to high time commitment in September and October.



--Multicultural Event- 1 or 2 co chairs needed

Organize a multi cultural event with students and parents. This event has endless possibilities on how it can be done. Moderate to high time commitment March through May.





--Bingo For Books- 1 or 2 co chairs needed -

Coordinate family bingo night event in November, collect books and raffle prizes, organize set-up and volunteers for the event with help from the executive board. Moderate time commitment September-November





--Community Service-- 1 chair needed

Coordinate one or two events a year with the school (donation drives) to benefit the community. Low time commitment





--Membership – 1 chair needed.

Coordinate annual PTA membership drive at the beginning of the school year— promote PTA mission, track and organize member data in Excel and/or MemberHub system. ~5 hrs/week late August through early October.



--Adult Social – 2 co-chairs needed,

but more are welcome -- Plan, organize and execute the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year (~$10,000) in late January. Planning begins in early fall. Ideas for updating this event are encouraged! Chairs work with vendors and coordinate a committee of volunteers that help with event planning, donation solicitation, and day-of details.





--Reflections – 1 chair needed --

Reflections is a national arts education program sponsored by National PTA and coordinated in D204 by IPPC. Students create works of art based on a theme and are recognized at both the school and district level. The Reflections chair promotes the program, collects student entries, works with IPPC to submit entries and ensures our students’ works are displayed and recognized at Spring Brook. Moderate time commitment from August-early spring.



--Health & Safety: Red Ribbon Week – 1 or 2 co-chairs needed --

RRW is the nation’s largest and oldest drug prevention program, taking place each year at the end of October. Chairs will plan school-wide theme days, materials, and marketing for the week. Low time commitment late September-October only.





--Apparel / Spirit Wear – 1 chair needed. Promote spirit wear sales throughout the year, work with vendor as needed to ensure ordering process runs smoothly. Low time commitment, some over the summer to prepare for the start of school.







* In accordance with our bylaws, you must become a PTA member for the 2021-2022 school year in order to chair a committee. *



There are many ways to get involved with Spring Brook PTA, and volunteers are always needed throughout the year. Separate emails will go out closer to each event asking for additional volunteers. Thank you for your generosity!
