Nimla Govenor - Physical Therapist
I was born in South Africa and graduated with a degree in Physiotherapy. I worked there for 10 years in a variety of settings before moving to America in 1997. After spending several years in orthopedics, respiratory, medical and neurosurgical in-patients, outpatients and ICU, I decided to venture in Pediatrics.
I organized and co-coordinated several courses including an 8 week NDT course, and attended several other Physical Therapy related courses. I gained experience in clinics for children with Cerebral Palsy who came mainly from rural areas, and also worked in neonatal ICU. In the school setting I worked with children who had sustained head injuries and those who had other neurological problems.
After arriving in America, I was a full-time mother for 6 years before venturing out to work in Early Intervention. I worked mainly in the home setting as well as in the clinic.
I am now working full-time in the school setting in District 204 and have been working here since 2004. I worked in several schools within our district and I now work in 5 schools (4 Elementary and 1 Middle school). I enjoy keeping up to date by attending continuing education classes and participating in school team discussions. I love what I do, and I use an individualized approach for all my students. I look forward to working with your child to enhance his/her performance within the educational setting.
